I wanted to see if we have some family in common. I saw that Mary Elizabeth Raney was buried in St. Clair, MO and with my family being from Potosi, MO and St. Clair, MO I thought we may have ties somewhere along the way.
My father was Earl Moses Raney, born April 5th, 1937 and his father was Paul Raney born around 1905. My father had a brother Paul and sisters Joan and Sally.
I will try to get more if you think we may have commonalities.
Thanks,

Steve,
Thanks for visiting my website and for leaving a comment.
Unfortunately, the names you have mentioned do not ring any bells with me. I’m also not sure where Potosi is.
Mary Elizabeth Raney was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Raney who migrated from Washington County, Kentucky, to Henry County, Missouri, just prior to the Civil War, if I remember correctly. As far as I know, the only Raney relative to remove to St. Clair County with Mary Elizabeth was her brother Samuel Raney, a blacksmith, who lived at Lowry City. I believe Samuel was the father of three girls only, so the Raney name was not continued in his lineage.
If you think there may be a connection between our families, you might want to bookmark my genealogy blog, The Cooperage, at http://mattocks.blogspot.com. I just started this blog, and I intend to use it to record the progress of my research.
If I stumble across any information on your line, I will let you know.
Thanks again,
Gregg
Do you know if the name Raney is I rish or German?
Sincerely,
~Brenda
